GIICA

Our venues

The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games bring unmissable opportunities to accelerate a wide range of economic and social benefits across the entire state, and the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is making the most of them.

We are building a statewide legacy of sporting infrastructure that Queenslanders will enjoy for generations, as we set the stage for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Our 17 new and upgraded venues will be purpose-designed and built to meet local community participation needs first and foremost, while also catering to the world’s best athletes in 2032.

Over 50 fields of playOur program will deliver more than 50 new sporting fields of play (courts, fields and pools) for ongoing community and high-performance use

“All the new and upgraded venues will be vital to enable the delivery of a hugely successful event in 2032, but imagine also the economic and social benefit from their creation, starting from now, and for decades to come.”

Stephen Conry AM, GIICA Chairman

Other Games venues

GIICA’s new and upgraded venues are just one piece of the Games venue jigsaw puzzle.

Over 20 other existing or temporary venues will be used to host Games events in 2032, along with athlete villages to house athletes and Games officials inBrisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Rockhampton.

Visit delivering2032.com.au to see how GIICA’s infrastructure projects fit into the broader plan for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Shortly before the Games, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee will prepare the new and upgraded venues, plus existing, temporary and non-competition venues, for hosting Games events.

Following the Games, the venues will be returned to the community and managed by the ongoing venue operators to serve long-lasting benefits.
