The upgrades will deliver athlete facilities that empower local clubs and communities to grow participation, nurture emerging talent, and strengthen pathways to elite sport.
The expansion and increased capacity will allow the region to attract even more high-profile national and international events into the future, helping drive local tourism and supporting local businesses.
Increased total permanent seating capacity to more than 10,000 ensures the stadium continues to serve as a valuable year-round asset for the local community, with a total Games-time capacity of up to 20,000 with temporary seating.
The Sunshine Coast is a fast-growing corner of South East Queensland and its Council has advocated for a stadium expansion for many years to meet the needs of its growing population.
