Toowoomba Showgrounds
Overview
Toowoomba is set to shine on the global stage as the Toowoomba Equestrian Centre within the Toowoomba Showgrounds is set to undergo a major transformation ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, providing a picturesque regional backdrop for equestrian events.
Already one of Queensland’s largest equestrian centres and host to national, state and local competitions, the upgraded facility is proposed to include a new international-standard cross-country course, additional arenas and warm-up spaces, new training areas, upgraded stabling, washdown bays and isolation stables.
Upgrading the facility to international standards will enhance facilities for local users, support athlete pathways, expand grassroots programs and position the venue to host more state, national and international events in the years ahead.

Upgrading Toowoomba Showgrounds to international standards will transform this iconic Australian equestrian venue into a facility well-positioned to host more state, national, and international events in the years ahead.
With a legacy in horse racing, equestrian, and agricultural excellence dating back to the 1860s, the upgrades will honour Toowoomba’s 160+ year heritage and reinforce its role as a cultural anchor for the Darling Downs.
Beyond the Games, the revitalised venue will generate opportunities to increase local tourism and create more regional jobs.
With nearby access to Wellcamp Airport and the 1,000-bed Queensland Regional Accommodation Centre, Toowoomba is well-positioned to support Games-time logistics and serve as a satellite Athletes’ Village.
