Para Sport Facility
Overview
A world-class Para Sport Facility at Chandler is more than just sporting infrastructure; it’s a powerful legacy that will create new training pathways for high-performance Para athletes and opportunities for increased participation in sport and physical activities for Queenslanders with a disability.
Queenslanders expect a strong legacy outcome for our Para athletes from hosting the Games, and this facility will achieve exactly that by hosting community Para sports and fostering the next generation of athletes with a disability in the lead-up to and post the Games.
The Para Sport Facility will be housed within the existing Chandler Arena (the indoor arena) and complemented by precinct-wide upgrades, which will enhance accessibility and connectivity between the different venues at the Chandler Sports Precinct.

Features and benefits

Building a dedicated Para Sport Facility helps showcase and celebrate a society that is inclusive for people of all abilities, encouraging participation for future Para athletes and community members alike.

Designed for excellence, the facility will provide Para athletes with the equipment, space, and support to train and compete at the highest level, within a precinct that has a long history of elite competition and training.
Located within an existing sporting precinct, Para athletes will benefit from nearby access to allied health services and the Queensland Academy of Sport.
By embedding accessibility and enduring legacy outcomes at its core, the centre looks to set a new benchmark for future Para sports infrastructure in Queensland.
The new facility will continue the sporting history of the Chandler Sports Precinct - first constructed ahead of the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth Games - launching a new chapter in supporting Para athletes as the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games aims to be the most accessible Games ever.
