Queensland’s premier tennis facility will gain upgrades set to benefit social and professional players thanks to the Games.
Pat Rafter Arena will be upgraded and a new showcourt and 12 new match courts added to deliver community and sporting legacy benefits and prepare the centre for Games use.
The state-of-the-art complex opened in 2008 and is home to the Brisbane International tournament. Year-round, it is a community-use venue with coaching for all ages, social and competition play and training for professional tennis athletes.
The centre has 22 match and training courts including clay, grass and cushion acrylic surfaces, catering to all three Grand Slam surfaces. The international-standard main court arena with a roof has seating for around 5,500 and two outdoor show courts. The site contains player facilities, corporate suites, administrative offices, and meeting and function facilities.
